The International Education Center at Namseoul University provides systematic Korean language education and cultural experiences for international students. Located in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, our center offers intensive Korean language training from beginner to advanced levels, helping students prepare for university admission and successful integration into Korean society.
Key Features of NSU International Education Center
Systematic 6-Level Curriculum
NSU offers courses from Beginner Level 1 to Advanced Level 6. Each term is 10 weeks long with 20 hours of intensive classes per week (4 hours per day), totaling 200 hours per term. This intensive approach enables students to rapidly improve their Korean proficiency.
Comprehensive Cultural Experience
Beyond language classes, students participate in various cultural activities including K-POP & Dance, Samulnori (Korean traditional music), Korean cooking classes, field trips to palaces and museums, and traditional Korean cultural experiences.
Student Support Programs
Our center provides buddy and mentoring programs connecting international students with Korean students. We also offer customized tutoring sessions and various club activities to enhance students' learning experience and help them adapt to life in Korea.
Specialized NSU Textbooks
Classes use specially developed NSU Korean textbooks designed for effective learning. Supplemented with video materials, Korean music, films, and multimedia content, our curriculum provides a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
Korean Language Programs

Program Types

Intensive Korean language program from beginner to advanced levels, 20 hours per week for a total of 200 hours per term.
2. Exchange Course
Designed for NSU students and exchange students, offered twice per year with 18 hours per week.

Scholarship Benefits

Level 1 Regular Korean Course Curriculum (Beginner 1)
This is an introductory course designed for learners who are studying Korean for the first time. Students will learn basic Korean pronunciation and Hangul (Korean alphabet), and practice essential expressions and simple sentence structures needed in everyday life.
1. Learning Objectives
- Accurately read and write Hangul consonants and vowels and understand basic pronunciation rules.
- Carry out very simple everyday communication such as greeting, self-introduction, and shopping for basic items.
- Create simple sentences using basic grammar and approximately 800 core vocabulary items.
- Understand and express basic information such as numbers, time, and dates.
- Read and write short, simple sentences in Korean.
- Develop foundational skills for further Korean language study.

- NSU Korean textbooks (specially developed by Namseoul University)
- Integrated Level 1 Korean textbook covering all four skills

- Additional handouts and online materials provided by instructors
※ Textbook fees are not included in tuition and are purchased separately at the beginning of each term.

8. Cultural Experience Activities
In addition to regular classes, Level 1 students can participate in various cultural activities:
- K-POP & Dance Classes: Learn Korean through popular music and dance
- Traditional Culture: Experience Samulnori, traditional folk games, pottery making
- Korean Cooking: Learn to make Korean dishes like kimchi, kimbap, and traditional foods
- Field Trips: Visit Seoul palaces, museums, Korean Folk Village, and local attractions
- Buddy Program: Connect with Korean students for language exchange and cultural sharing
- Cultural Events: Participate in speech contests, song festivals, and talent shows
